DNA-Fingerprint by RFLP

17 Votes

The experiment describes the procedure of a model experiment for making a DNA fingerprint by the classical way by Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP): DNA found at the crime scene and isolated from 5 suspects will be treated by restriction enzymes. The fragments of the DNA mixtures are separated by gelelectrophoresis and stained for making the fragments visible. The visible DNA bands in the gel will be compared. The pattern of fragments of one suspect is identical with the pattern of the crime scene DNA.
