Informations and Discussion about Meeting in Miskolc Feb. 11st- 14th 2015

• Thursday and Friday a workshop is organized
• The school will be visited
• The next meeting (Evreux) will be discussed
• Miskolc university will be visited
• Half a day (friday afternoon?) will be some sightseeing in Miskolc
• Saturday morning: departure

How to go to Miskolc?

There are 2 airports (Budapest by plane, then trip by train for 2 hours - or: Kosice by plane and then 1.5 hours by train) from the airport to the main station by taxi: minimum half an hour.
• The airports are far from the city - taxi is a better choice than the bus/metro
• There will be people waiting for us at the railway station of Miskolc to pick us up
• End of October the informations about the participants of the meeting in Miskolc has to be sent to Laszlo, (as soon as possible is best)
• There is a hotel near the school
• In school there are some few rooms for students - in plus, host families will be organized (mentors can wish, what they like)

Participants: Meeting in Miskolc around 20 teachers and 13 mentors.

Student-Teacher-Meeting in Evreux (Apr 13rd – 18th 2015)

• There are 4 laboratories in Evreux, there will be 4 groups (16 students and teachers, 8 mentors with them). A big room for presentations is available.
• Bacterial infections in hospitals is the main topic. There will be 3 experiments:
1. Identification of bacteria
2. Which antibiotics can be used against these bacteria/problem of resistance?
3. Where are the bacteria found (in air...)?

Program in Evreux:
• 1st day a lot of experiments, no results,
• 2nd day more experiments, all the results will be there the 2nd day: conclusions for all the different experiments will be done and in plus a "global" conclusion.
• Thursday: visit of Paris (not on Friday because Friday is a free day in Paris)
• Friday: visit the D-Day-Beach, military cemetery, Avranches: memorial museum (“Why Europe is important in those days?”)

For teachers there will be hotels, french team needs to book the hotels in January: In economy hotel there are 35 double rooms ( 30 rooms are needed for students)

The arrival time of the different teams has to be communicated as soon as possible, also it is very important to inform about the sex of the students.

It is possible to fly to Charles de Gaulle airport or Orly airport, then to Paris by train, then to Evreux - around 60€ both ways, duration: 1h to Paris, 2-3 hours to Evreux (depending on the arrival time).

There is a private shuttle service in Evreux (300€ both ways), 7-8 persons. You are taken at the door of the airport terminal, driven directly to the hotel. Fabrice tries to organize a shuttle as soon as the arrival time is known and communicated to him.

After 20 h there is no train to go to Evreux!

Informations and Discussion about an Erasmus + Project

Dr Braun:

• We have to do the decision about the timetable: continue the partnership in the future (new name Erasmus+ since 2014 until 2020).
• We should apply to it and we could have a very good chance to get the funds for the project.
• Where is the additional value of this project for Europe? We have to find an answer for this question, and then we have a good chance.

New conditions in Erasmus+:
• There are no preparation meetings —> we have to be ready for a new project quickly, if we do a break, we have to communicate over the internet (tool: eTwinning, to find new partners, formulate the application etc...). eTwinning has to be used from everybody who participates, there are points given if you use it. At the meeting of Miskolc we need additional time to answer the questions of a new project.
• No waiting time: we can start a new project directly (that would mean in September 2015). So the question is: do we want to start immediately?
• Maximum of 10 partners. We are 11, but Switzerland at the moment is not allowed to participate (because of the voting in February 2014). Switzerland can’t be an official partner, therefore Switzerland can’t be visited even when Switzerland would pay for itself. Jürgen is in contact to a school in Athens and there is also the possibility to ask Erita from Latvia.
• Everybody or Nobody: we write an application, which is applied only by the leading school, if this application is accepted, everybody is accepted and everybody has to take part of the project. Once applied, there is no possibility to cancel for just one school.
• STEM Projects in Advantage:
• No application for mobilities, we apply for a specific program: there will be the same thing but in other key words. Less than 100km: we get nothing for the trip, more than 100km some amount... 1st point: the trip, 2nd point: participants. Minimum of nights is 5 for the bigger meeting. In the application we write down, how many people coming from where to where, how many nights. If you apply for the specific program, normally there is more money coming than in Comenius - of course IF you get the project.
• Leading school has the need of more money (around 6000€, that could be used for?)
• You can apply for a 2 years or a 3 years project

Possible title of the project:
European Challenges in Sustainable Production of Ethanol and Biogas by Biotechnology for Solving Energy Problems in Future.

• Teacher-Mentor-Meetings for Workshop Preparation
• Workshop 1: Production of Ethanol
- Glucose and Ethanol Estimation by Photometry
- Developing and Optimizing of Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Paper to Glucose
- Anaerobic Fermentation of Glucose to Ethanol
• Workshop 2: Production of Biogas
- Production of Biogas out of Organics in an anaerobic Fermentation
- Estimation of the quality and quantity of the product
• Workshop 3: Ethical Discussion
- No Food Supply

Each school can do the fermentation in simple fermentors at home, three different workshops, the second workshop is on its way, the 3rd (ethical discussion) doesn’t need equipment and can be done everywhere).

Beginning of February the application has to be applied. Therefore an additional meeting required in January: if the countries have the money/mobilities to travel. Switzerland is responsible for this meeting.
Program meeting Switzerland: 2 nights, 1 or 1.5 days of work, visiting school in Muttenz. Jan 11th2015 – 13th2015

Participants propose Johanna-Wittum-School as the leading school for the next project, every team agrees.

At the end of the meeting Dr Rupprecht says many thanks for the good cooperation with the partners in every project his school took part since 2001. He will retire in Februrary.

Protocol is a result of cooperation between Christian Kofmel and Renate Pletschen
